What's Inside
The MTN Sense Rescue Kit?

Bruce Wayne Rescue Tarp & Rigging Cord & Emergency Blanket

Uses: 5'x6' Tyvek Tarp with rigging sleeves to drag out a partner who can't move on their own with very low friction over snow. Warmth. 27' of UHMWPE cord and 12' of Kevlar cord for rigging. Use for the ceiling of a snow bivy as well.

Waterproof Extra-Tall Stuff Sack & UHMWPE Eye-Spliced 3.1mm Cord

Uses: Keep your kit dry. Doubles as an emergency deadman anchor. Cord used with anchor or Bruce Wayne Rescue Tarp.

EVA Foam Tool Holder

Use: Pads the sharp tools from destroying gear. Doubles as a splint with some MacGyver-ing. Allows entire kit to slide into the hydration pouch of most packs.

SnakeStaff EDQ Gen2 Tourniquet

Uses: Stops arterial bleeds. Save a life. Ski edges and tree branches are sharp.

BattleWrap Compression Wrap

Uses: Adhesive elastic clear bandage. Compression dressing, waterproof.

Kaolin Hemostatic Gauze x 2

Use: Kaolin infused (expensive) cotton gauze stops bleeding faster than normal gauze. Doubles as a fire starter.

NiteCore Headlamp

Use: 400 Lumens, USB-C rechargeable battery, warmer light is easier on the eyes when shining on snow. Winter days are short!

MTN Sense Multi-Tool

Uses: Pliers, Legit Scissors, Wire Cutter, Nail File, Proper Knife, and more. Fraction of the weight of a Leatherman, and yet functional.

1/4" Ratchet with 9 Bits and Drill

Uses: Adjust bindings, fix ripped out toe piece, tighten bolts on boots, and more.

2-Octyl Skin Adhesive / Syringe / Nitrile Gloves

Uses: Clean and glue cuts. When stitches could be needed, this glue holds and flexes for 5-10 days. It's impressive!

Ceramic Utility Blade

Uses: Cutting base flush after dinging rocks. Multitude of other uses. Sharper and better edge hold than steel, lighter, doesn't rust, and maybe won't trigger the TSA scanner when you forget to remove it from your carry-on.

Small Rivets & Chicago Bolts

Uses: Fixing skin tips, blown zippers, or anything else you want to rivet together.

304 Stainless Steel Zip Tie (650mm / 25" long)

Uses: Like a hose clamp, but lighter and stronger and removable (with some fiddling). Strap boot to broken board and still be able to glide

MTN Sense Ski Tie

Uses: It's like duct tape for the backcountry. Always have at least one.

Glob Stopping Wax

Uses: Keep your climbing skins from globbing while touring through warm fresh snow.

Perfect Containers x 9

Uses: Waterproof and crush proof for individual medications (drug name and dose recommendations included - drugs not included). Small empty container for your favorite sunscreen. Space to add your specific needs.

T-Nuts / Bolts / Washers

Uses: Fix delaminated skis or broken toe piece. Fix broken boot rivet.

Additional Recommendations

Not added to the kit for logistical reason, but I like them: Mini Lighter. Leuko Tape P. Tyvek Tape. Lip Balm. Medicines.

Hi, I'm Mark Smiley

I've been refining this kit since 2010. I spared no expense on items where the name brand option is far superior, and included generic options where there is no performance difference to keep the cost down.

My gram counting obsession + an intolerance for dingle-dangles = A kit you will actually carry and when you need it, it will deliver.

This pre-production sale is kinda like if Kickstarter and Groupon had a forbidden love-child. Significant capital is needed to place minimum orders on all these tools. Once 265 people pre-order, the project will be kickstarted.

For the Groupon Part; these 42 tools, purchased individually (when possible), total ~$470. If you're willing to invest now, and wait until Thanksgiving for delivery, you can unlock this great deal. The price normal price will be $425.

Lacking enough early investors (you), this repair kit project will fail like a fat kid trying a double backflip off the diving board for the first time after watching one YouTube Short.

First movers get a quality kit at a great price. I'm stoked! I hope you are too. Now please share this page with your friends and we all win.

"It's about time you went public with this awesome kit! I've been jealous since I saw an early proto."

FAQ's

When will this Early Bird deal expire?

Tuesday September 2, at 11:59PM PST

Are you really including free access to the $425 Beyond Level One course!?

Yup! We have to celebrate this product launch!

Can I buy parts individually?

Not at this time. For this early phase in production, there are 2 options . (1) The full kit or (2) Kit without the headlamp, tourniquet or Battlewrap.

When will I get my kit?

We are shooting for a delivery by Thanksgiving. Likely before then.

Will you help me figure out how all this stuff works?

Yes. There will be video tutorials for each tool with common fixes.

Is this for splitboarders too?

Yes.

I own a Bruce Wayne Rescue Tarp, can I purchase the kit without a tarp?

No, but after checkout you will get an email with a $100 off any MTN Sense Digital product code to says thanks for being a first mover on the tarp last year.

What if you sell out?

This is very likely the only batch for the year. It's a lot of work delivering on a promise. Get it now or (potentially) never.

What happens after I purchase?

You'll have immediate free access to the online course Beyond Level One, and video instructions for the Bruce Wayne Rescue Tarp. We will keep you updated on the exact delivery time via email.

Hi, I'm Mark Smiley

My passion for adventure has taken me on 30+ expeditions on five continents. Together with my wife, Janelle, we are the only people you've attempted to climb all 50 Classic Climbs of North America (48 successfully). I got to be part of a team to set a world record skiing across the entire Alps Mountain Range (1100 miles and 292,000 vertical feet) in a mere 36 days.

As an IFMGA Certified Mountain Guide, I clawed bled and trained my way to the ranks of the world's elite guides. I strive to use my experience and training to streamline your learning process. I think avalanche safety training should be fun, mellow, and easy to understand.
